The Hawkesbury Gazette sincerely apologises for an error in the December print edition story titled “All I Want for Christmas Is a New Council.”
The article incorrectly attributed a statement to Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett regarding Council’s capacity to afford the termination of the General Manager’s contract in a Hawkesbury Radio interview with presenter Sean Carroll. This attribution was incorrect.
Hawkesbury Radio presenter Sean Carroll, during a community meeting about the Special Rate Variation SRV posed a question to the General Manager related specifically to the nearly 50 per cent increase in Council’s wage bill over the past decade and the absence of a clear link between that increase and performance-based outcomes.
We acknowledge that this comment was not made by Councillor Lyons-Buckett and regret the error.
The Hawkesbury Gazette extends its sincere apologies to Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett and to Sean Carroll for the misattribution and any confusion or inconvenience caused. We are committed to accurate reporting and thank both parties for their understanding.
