In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a string of daring break-ins shocked the Londonderry community, with three local businesses — including the much-loved Teddy Bear Shop on Carrington Road — targeted by thieves in a coordinated smash-and-grab.
The break-ins occurred around 5:00am and, according to shop owners, took just 16 seconds. The offenders, armed with a crowbar and believed to be riding a motorbike, forced their way into the premises with alarming speed and precision. Despite tenants in the upstairs apartments shouting at the intruders and immediately calling police, the offenders were undeterred and fled the scene before authorities arrived.
The nearby Metro Service Station was also reportedly broken into during the same time frame, prompting concerns of a wider crime spree in the area.
Local police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward. Information can be reported directly to Windsor Police, as investigators work to identify and apprehend those responsible.
“These brazen break-ins have shaken our local business community,” said one business owner. “We need to catch them before someone gets hurt.”
Police are continuing their investigation, and community members are encouraged to remain vigilant.
