Kurrajong Heights Bowling Club revved up the weekend with its very first car show, drawing local enthusiasts and visitors alike for a day of chrome, classics, and community spirit.

Held under sunny skies, the event featured a stunning array of vehicles—from vintage beauties, rare collectibles and meticulously kept classics. Dozens of car lovers gathered to admire the collection, swap stories, and celebrate the artistry and history behind each ride.

In true show style, four trophies were up for grabs, awarded to standout vehicles that turned heads and captured the crowd’s attention. The winners were chosen based on presentation, uniqueness, and overall appeal, with each trophy proudly accepted by passionate owners.

Among the award winners was Greg Divine, who took home the trophy for Best Dressed with his beautifully presented 1963 Wedgewood Blue Holden EJ utility, complete with a matching Propert Patent folding caravan. Greg, who has owned the vehicle for seven years, originally bought and restored various parts of the vehicle himself. He is known for embracing all things retro and says he prefers to live as though it’s still the 1960s. Some of his fondest memories with the car include travelling to destinations like Broken Hill and Lismore. When asked what advice he would give to someone thinking about joining the car hobby, he laughed and said, “I hope you have lots of money.”

Another standout on the day was Troy Myers' 1972 GT Ford Falcon V8 ute replica, which took home the Inaugural Winner award thanks to its pristine restoration and nostalgic appeal. A long-time car enthusiast and owner, Troy’s connection to this particular model runs deep—his love for the Falcon began in childhood, when his father would take him for drives in a 1972 Ford Fairmont.

Restoring the car was a six-year labour of love, with the panel beating and paintwork proving the most challenging due to the vehicle’s original condition. For Troy, the best part of owning the Falcon is taking it out on Sunday drives with friends and family, exploring unfamiliar places and forming new connections at events like the Kurrajong Heights Bowling Club car show.

The other awards included the People's Choice Award won by XXXX with his Ford Thunderbird and The Jalopy Award won by XXXX with his Ford EB Falcon Station Wagon.

The car show marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Kurrajong Heights Bowling Club. Organisers say it’s just the first of many community events planned for the club, aimed at bringing locals together and celebrating the unique interests within the region.

This is just the start,” said one of the event organisers. “The turnout has been incredible, and we’re already looking forward to planning the next one. "

Overall the day was more than just motors—it was a celebration of community, connection, and a shared love of all things automotive.
