Stage 1 of the New Richmond Bridge project is progressing, with upcoming works set to improve safety and flood resilience by upgrading key intersections along The Driftway at Blacktown Road and Londonderry Road.
Transport for NSW has confirmed additional out-of-hours work will take place at the Londonderry Road intersection following recent consultation with nearby residents. The proposal, which included working up to five nights per week and extending Saturday hours, received a positive response from the local community.
Project managers say the extra shifts will allow essential work to be completed more efficiently and help keep the project on schedule, without prolonging disruption overall.
From Sunday 11 January 2026, crews may work up to five nights a week and all day Saturdays, when required, at the Londonderry Road intersection.
Upcoming night work
Between Sunday 11 January and Thursday 12 February, water main upgrades will be carried out, including trenching, pipe installation and backfilling. Night work will take place Sunday to Thursday, between 7pm and 5am, weather permitting. No work will occur on public holidays.
Temporary detour
To allow trenching across The Driftway, a temporary night-time closure will be in place on Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 January, between 8pm and 5am each night, weather permitting.
During these closures, traffic will be detoured via Londonderry Road, Wilshire Road and Jockbet Street, Londonderry.
Residents will be notified in advance if any additional out-of-hours work is required.
Project representatives have thanked the community for their patience and support while this important infrastructure work is completed.
