Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) is kicking off the new year with its first adoption event of 2026, inviting Hawkesbury locals to meet more than 50 loving greyhounds looking for their forever homes.

The event will be held on Saturday, 17 January, from 9am to noon at the Londonderry Adoption Centre, located at 382 The Driftway, Londonderry.

Following strong demand for greyhound adoptions over the past two months, the Western Sydney team is opening its doors earlier than usual to give those who missed out last December another chance to find a new companion.

Special adoption rates will be available during the event, including $150 for greyhounds under seven years (normally $250) and $75 for seniors aged seven and over (usually $150).

GAP encourages families to bring their current dogs along to meet potential new additions and experience the calm, gentle nature of these retired racing greyhounds firsthand.

Greyhounds As Pets aims to raise awareness about the joys of adopting retired racers, who often make affectionate and loyal pets.

For those interested in seeing which dogs are available, registration for the Dogalogue can be completed online at gapnsw.com.au, providing a list of all greyhounds currently waiting for a home.
