Local seniors are being invited to enjoy a day of creativity, community and wellbeing at the upcoming Happy & Healthy: Arts & Culture Seniors Expo, being held as part of this year’s NSW Seniors Festival.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 18 March from 10am to 4pm, bringing together a range of activities across the Hawkesbury Library Service, Hawkesbury Regional Gallery and Hawkesbury Regional Museum precinct.
The expo is designed to celebrate the role of arts, culture and community connection in supporting healthy and active ageing.
Information, Workshops and Community Connection
Visitors will be able to begin the day by exploring information stalls located throughout the library, where local organisations and community groups will be sharing resources and services available to seniors in the Hawkesbury.
Following the information session, attendees can enjoy a light lunch on the Gallery balcony, offering an opportunity to relax and connect with others while taking in the surrounding cultural precinct.
The afternoon program will feature a range of hands-on workshops, encouraging participants to try new activities and engage with the arts.
Plant Sale for Garden Lovers
Adding to the day’s attractions, the Macquarie Towns Garden Club will host a plant sale, offering a variety of plants and gardening favourites for visitors.
The sale is expected to appeal to many local residents who enjoy gardening as both a hobby and a way to stay active.
Celebrating Seniors Across NSW
The event forms part of the statewide NSW Seniors Festival, which celebrates the contributions of older Australians and promotes opportunities for seniors to remain active, connected and engaged in their communities.
Organisers say the Hawkesbury expo aims to highlight the many ways arts and culture can support wellbeing, learning and social connection later in life.
Local seniors and community members are encouraged to attend and take part in what promises to be a lively and engaging day of activities.
