Hawkesbury farmers, landholders and rural community leaders are being encouraged to apply for Local Land Services (LLS) board positions, with the NSW Government calling for new members to help guide agricultural and land management services across the state.
Local Land Services works closely with landholders on issues that matter deeply to the Hawkesbury, including farm productivity, biosecurity, pest and weed management, soil and water health, and emergency preparedness. With applications now open, locals have a chance to ensure the Hawkesbury’s voice is heard at a regional level.
The NSW Government is seeking applications for local board chairs and board members across the state’s 11 LLS regions. Successful applicants will be appointed by the Minister for Agriculture and Regional NSW for terms of up to four years.
Board members play a key role in setting regional priorities and overseeing programs that directly affect farmers, lifestyle landholders and rural businesses. Their input helps shape how services are delivered on the ground — from biosecurity responses to drought resilience and natural resource management.
For the Hawkesbury, which sits at the intersection of farming, urban growth and environmental protection, local representation is seen as particularly important. The region faces unique challenges, including flood recovery, development pressure, biosecurity risks and the need to balance agricultural production with environmental sustainability.
Local Land Services has stressed that applicants do not need to be full-time farmers to apply. People with experience in agriculture, land management, natural resources, community leadership, business, finance or governance are all encouraged to consider nominating.
A Local Land Services spokesperson said board members bring local knowledge that helps ensure decisions are practical and regionally relevant.
Applications close Friday 23 January 2026.
