Local Students Shine on International Stage at US Open Martial Arts Tournament
Windsor’s own Destiny Martial Arts Australia® has made waves on the international stage, with five of its students proudly representing Australia at the prestigious US Open Martial Arts Tournament in Orlando, Florida.
Since taking over the Windsor-based studio in December 2023, Destiny Martial Arts Australia® has grown a vibrant training community, welcoming students aged 2 to adult. Among their students, a dedicated tournament team travels across the state to compete, but this year, an exceptional five students earned the honor of joining the Australian team. To qualify, competitors must consistently compete in tournaments and place in the top three in their categories—a testament to the hard work and dedication of these young athletes.
The US Open, one of the world’s largest martial arts competitions, saw the Australian team emerge as the largest international contingent, achieving an impressive second place overall. Team Destiny’s students contributed significantly to this outstanding result.
The competitors and their achievements were:
- Mia (15 years old) – 1st in Hand Power Break, 6th in Traditional Forms, 9th in Synchronized Forms.
- Marissa (14) – 2nd in Sword Combat, 4th in Traditional Forms, 4th in Hand Power Break, 5th in Weapons, 9th in Synchronized Forms.
- Hudson (12) – 1st in Sword Combat, 5th in Power Foot Break, 9th in Point Sparring.

These achievements did not come easily. In preparation for the US Open, the students trained up to five times a week, including five-hour Saturday sessions starting with a specially designed fitness program tailored to their needs.
This remarkable journey was entirely self-funded by the families, highlighting their dedication and commitment. Destiny Martial Arts Australia® also organized fundraising events to ease the financial burden, reflecting the strong community spirit surrounding these young athletes.
Reflecting on this incredible experience, the team is already looking ahead to 2027, with training underway and new students eager to test their skills in future tournaments.
Destiny Martial Arts Australia® continues to foster skill, discipline, and confidence in its students. Those interested in joining this dynamic and supportive martial arts community are encouraged to make contact and take part in the next chapter of this inspiring journey.
