With The Regent Theatre now reopened after major renovations for a handful of events until March 2026, local singer-songwriter Wil Linder is set to take the stage on December 6, marking the second live show hosted at the revitalized venue. For Wil, who last performed at The Regent in 2023, this homecoming show represents not just a milestone in his career, but a celebration of the Hawkesbury community and its long-awaited return to live entertainment.
The last time Wil performed at The Regent, it held a couple hundred seats, and he sold it out. The updated theatre now seats 550 people, making this the largest venue he has ever played.
“It’s exciting, but definitely scary,” he laughs. “Five hundred and fifty tickets is a scary amount of tickets to sell. But the venue looks incredible now. They’ve completely transformed it. No more sticky carpet. It’s like a whole new place.
Launching a New Tour and a New Sound
Wil’s Regent performance is part of his first ever tour, the Stars in the Sky Tour, which spans several NSW locations including Sydney CBD, the Northern Beaches, and Tamworth. He’ll be performing with his full five-piece band—guitar, bass, drums and organ. Promising a lively, dance-friendly set.
“What you hear on the record is what you get, but more exciting. There’ll be groovy numbers, a lot of energy, and it’s just an all-round good time.”
Wil also just re-released his first ever single, “A Good Heart Look,” now fully produced with the full band sound he always imagined for it.
“The new version is the perfect example of how much the music has matured,” he explains. “Back in 2023, I wanted to sound like my heroes. Now it feels like it’s its own thing. A real ‘Wil Linder’ sound.”
A Local Artist Shaped by the Hawkesbury
Growing up in East Kurrajong, Wil says the Hawkesbury has shaped both his writing and his identity as an artist.
“There’s always this theme of water and nature in my music,” he says. “Living near the river, having stars you can actually see, those things end up in the songs without even trying. You just don’t get that in the city.”
He believes the region also plays a role in fostering creativity.
“The serenity out here gives you space to write. Fewer distractions. You can actually sit down and put your thoughts on paper.”

Supporting Live Music in the Hawkesbury
Wil notes that despite a vibrant local culture, live music in the Hawkesbury has declined in recent years.
“When I was younger there were gigs everywhere, but after COVID it dropped off. My old band still plays locally sometimes and the places are always packed. I don’t understand why more venues don’t keep it going.”
That’s why he’s thrilled to see The Regent expanding beyond cinema screenings.
“This isn’t just about my show. It’s about bringing live music back here. The Regent is giving local artists a real platform. They’ve done these huge renovations but didn’t forget their roots.”
Looking Ahead to December 6
With a bigger venue, a growing fanbase, and a matured sound, Wil hopes the community will show up. Not just for him, but for The Regent’s new chapter.
“It’ll be the best show of the tour,” he promises.
Book your tickets to see Wil and support local talent along with a new and improved live entertainment venue close to home.
