The NSW Government has released the first artist’s impressions of three new modern ambulance stations at South Windsor offering a glimpse of the upgraded emergency care facilities set to strengthen mobile medical response across the state.

For the Hawkesbury, the announcement is especially significant. Residents and businesses have long highlighted the severe gap in ambulance coverage west of the river. The new South Windsor Ambulance Station at 7–11 Acacia Close is expected to play a critical role in addressing this long-standing community safety issue.

The stations form part of the NSW Government’s $615.5 million NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program, which will deliver 30 new ambulance stations and support the recruitment of 2,500 additional NSW Ambulance staff, including 500 new paramedics in rural and regional NSW.

Modern, Purpose-Built Facilities for a Growing Region

Each of the new stations will include:

  • Internal parking for emergency ambulance vehicles
  • A dedicated vehicle wash bay
  • A multipurpose area for paramedics
  • A gym and wellbeing space
  • Training and meeting rooms
  • Administration, logistics and storage facilities
  • On-site parking

With excellent access to major road networks, the South Windsor location has been chosen to complement existing services and boost response capacity for the broader Hawkesbury region, an area that has gone without adequate ambulance coverage for years.

Planning Nearing Completion, Construction to Begin in 2026

Design work is in its final stages, with contractors to be appointed following planning approval. Construction on all three stations is expected to commence in 2026.

Minister for Health Ryan Park said the new facilities are essential to strengthening emergency care for communities like the Hawkesbury:

“Our top priority is ensuring that our growing communities can access the health care they need, where they need it, and when they need it. These new ambulance stations are a critical part of delivering on that promise.”

Hawkesbury MP Robyn Preston said:

“I welcome the progress on the South Windsor Ambulance Station, which is a necessary step towards improving emergency response times for the Hawkesbury community. There is still an urgent need for the Minns Labor Government to fund a new ambulance station west of the river and I spoke with Minister Park this week just after he announced the progress on the South Windsor Ambulance Station and reiterated critical need for an ambulance facility to be built on the western side of the river.”
