The Australian Government has announced the opening of the 2025–26 Volunteer Grant Round, providing $10 million nationally to support volunteers and the community organisations they serve.
In the Macquarie electorate, more than $66,000 is available in grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for eligible organisations across the Blue Mountains, Nepean, and Hawkesbury regions. Grants can be used to purchase small equipment for volunteers or cover costs for specific volunteer-led activities.
Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, is now calling for Expressions of Interest from local organisations that rely on volunteers.
“Since being elected in 2016, I’ve seen the difference a volunteer grant can make to a wide range of not-for-profit organisations, including food support services, sporting clubs, wildlife groups, Girl Guides, and Scout groups,” Ms Templeman said.
“I encourage groups to check the grant guidelines and eligibility criteria as they may have changed since they last applied. This round also recognises activities supporting veterans, children under 18, and initiatives that promote racial understanding and inclusion.”
Assistant Minister Ged Kearney said:
“Volunteering is essential to strengthening and enriching local communities across Australia. Volunteer grants are one of the ways the Australian Government shows its commitment to supporting the critical role of volunteers, and helping all those who want to volunteer to have that chance.”
Since 2016, the Australian Government has invested over $85 million to support the volunteer sector, complementing initiatives such as the National Strategy for Volunteering 2023–2033 and the Hanging Out to Help Out campaign promoting volunteering to young people.
Organisations interested in applying can submit Expressions of Interest via Susan Templeman’s website.
“I want to thank all of those people who generously give their time to support our community with services and activities that enrich people’s lives,” Ms Templeman added.
