The skies above the Hawkesbury will roar to life this spring when the RAAF Richmond Airshow returns on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September 2025, marking 100 years since RAAF Base Richmond was established.
Billed as one of the largest aviation events in the region’s history, the weekend will showcase both modern Australian Defence Force capabilities and the base’s proud heritage. Visitors can expect thrilling flying displays, up-close aircraft inspections, and an array of interactive ground exhibits.
Aviation Highlights
Airborne displays will feature some of the Air Force’s most advanced aircraft, including the F-35A Lightning II, EA-18G Growler, C-17A Globemaster, C-130J Hercules, C-27J Spartan, KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport, E-7A Wedgetail, P-8 Poseidon, and the Roulettes aerobatic team. The 100 Squadron Heritage Flight will also take to the skies, offering a rare glimpse of classic warbirds in action.
On the ground, visitors can explore exhibits featuring military working dogs, security forces, aero-medical evacuation units, firefighters, explosive detection teams, drones, simulators, and Air Force Cadets. Bands and other entertainment will add to the festival atmosphere.
Gates open at 9am each day, with flying displays scheduled between 11am and 4pm. Ground exhibits will run all day.
Tickets and Transport
Tickets go on sale via TryBooking at 10am AEST on Wednesday 13 August 2025, and are expected to sell out quickly. Daily tickets are $40 for adults, $35 concession, $10 for ages 5–18, and free for children under five. No tickets will be sold at the gate.
Free public transport is included in the ticket price, with extra train services running to Clarendon Station. Parking at the Hawkesbury Showground will be available for $10 per vehicle, but must be pre-purchased. Accessibility parking and rideshare drop-off points will also be provided.
Getting In and Around
Public entry will be via temporary airfield gates along Hawkesbury Valley Way, with security checks in place. Visitors should be prepared for up to 1.5km of walking each way across uneven ground, and comfortable shoes are recommended. Limited shuttle buses will operate for those with mobility needs.
Attendees can bring hats, sunscreen, refillable water bottles, folding chairs, and picnic blankets. Cameras are welcome, and personal food and non-alcoholic drinks may be brought in. Prohibited items include alcohol, drones, smoking devices, tents, large umbrellas, pets, and any hazardous materials.
An Event for All Ages
The RAAF Richmond Airshow 2025 promises a blend of high-speed excitement, family-friendly activities, and historical reflection. For long-time locals, it’s a chance to celebrate the base’s century of service. For newcomers, it’s a rare opportunity to see Australia’s air power up close and meet the people who operate it.
With tickets strictly limited and no gate sales, organisers are urging aviation enthusiasts and families to secure their spots early.
