On September 2, Redbank Village held a ribbon cutting ceremony to open Stage 2 of their development.

Before commencing ribbon honours with the Redbank Team, Hawkesbury Mayor, Les Sheather, brought out a piece of paper— it showed a barren land before the existence of Redbank. He spoke of a wish list and what has happened here, could not have come truer, stating:

“Redbank is a standard for contemporary living and community life.”

Local families, residents and businesses were also there to cheer on this momentous occasion alongside Hawkesbury Councillors, Mike Creed and Sarah McMahon as well as Member for Hawkesbury, Robyn Preston.

This new stage proudly welcomes:

  • Brand-new IGA + Liquor
  • Instil Beauty
  • Hustled Pilates
  • Centro australia
  • New village car park + EV fast-charging station
  • Australia Post Parcel Lockers

Leading the ceremony, Mitul Haque, Head of Redbank Community and Digital similarly said:

“The community has been waiting for this and now we have our own little village. It’s a walkable community.”

Kristin and Jess, from North Richmond Vet Hospital also celebrated the new addition, as appreciative locals of a tight knit community, doing vital Wires work and treating native wildlife in the area.

Inspiration for the village was taken from surrounding areas. ClarkeHopkinClarke, Redbank architects, Jake Le Lievre and Jordan Curran, were inspired by Leura’s heritage details and old Australian village aesthetic. Jake said:

“Its connected to the community with community design.”

And Jordan added:

“Due diligence really pushed us to get it right for the community."

Unlike copy-paste developments that we’re seeing pop up all over Western Sydney, Redbank is a considered village, with great thought going into the town planning.

This stage also welcomes exciting infrastructure for electric cars, the first of its kind on this side of the Hawkesbury River. Krishna Thiers, Business Development Manager for EVSE, said:

“Driving from Redbank to the Blue Mountains was a worry, with no electric chargers here. This addition is not only good for the community but also council fleets.”

Within 6 months Krishna determined Redbank would have a real uptake of more electric cars. Education is the main barrier to purchasing these types of vehicles, and EVSE is working round the clock to myth bust and disseminate educational programs, webinars and ‘how to’ videos.

Instil Beauty owner, Casey Sutton and sister stepping into the Manager role, Sarah Vella, are local residents of Redbank. For Casey, she ran the business out of home for 10 years, and has struggled to find the perfect place— until Redbank!

The village is not only providing jobs and homes for North Richmond, but also offering business owners an opportunity to flourish locally.

With Stage 2 now open to the public, head on down and take a look around!
