Preston Confirmed as Liberal Candidate for Hawkesbury
Robyn Preston will again contest the seat of Hawkesbury at the next state election, after being formally endorsed by the NSW Liberal Party as its candidate for 2027 .
The announcement was made this week by the NSW Liberal Party Management Committee, confirming Ms Preston as the party’s representative for the upcoming New South Wales election .
Ms Preston was first elected as the State Member for Hawkesbury in March 2019 and was re-elected in 2023 .
Before entering Parliament, she built a career across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, working in senior management, sales and marketing roles and running her own small business. She was also Australia’s first female rugby league commercial television commentator .
In a statement following her endorsement, Ms Preston said she was honoured to have the opportunity to recontest the seat.
“I am honoured to be endorsed as the Liberal candidate for Hawkesbury to recontest the seat at the upcoming 2027 New South Wales state election,” she said .
Reflecting on her time in office, Ms Preston pointed to her role in supporting the community through a series of natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During my time as the Member for Hawkesbury, I have helped the community through the devastation of countless floods, bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. I have secured funding for crucial infrastructure and helped our nurses and midwives receive the recognition through entitlements that they deserve,” she said .
Ms Preston said her priorities remain focused on local issues, including improving roads and infrastructure, supporting veterans, fostering small business growth, creating local jobs and addressing cost-of-living pressures across the Hawkesbury .
“I would be extremely grateful to have the opportunity to keep fighting for Hawkesbury. From Bilpin to Box Hill, St Albans to South Windsor, I’m here to advocate for our community,” she said .
The 2027 NSW state election is expected to be held in March.
