Comleroy Road Public School may be one of the Hawkesbury’s smaller schools, but its community has proved that big things can grow from small places.
Tucked away off Comleroy Road in Kurrajong, the school has quietly undergone a remarkable revival over the past 12 months driven by volunteers, families, staff, and strong support from local businesses.
With just 145 students, the P&C has been revitalised, community engagement rebuilt, and fundraising efforts reignited. In less than a year, the school community has raised more than $30,000, reintroduced the school’s first community markets in seven years attended by local MP Susan Templeman and funded the purchase of 26 brand new computers, reaching the target in only three months.
A series of new and refreshed events has brought families back onto school grounds, rebuilding connection and pride. The school has also formed strong partnerships with major supporters including Bendigo Bank North Richmond, Stone Real Estate, and Ray White Kurrajong, whose contributions have helped drive the school’s resurgence.
P&C President Geraldine Bourne said the achievements show the power of a united community.
“It’s incredible what a small school can accomplish when everyone gets behind it,” she said. “The pride, the connection, and the belief in what we can achieve together has completely transformed our school community.”
The Comleroy Road PS P&C hopes the story inspires others across the Hawkesbury and highlights the importance of supporting local schools, especially the small ones quietly making a big impact.
