It was an energy packed and smooth, well received show on Saturday, 19 September 2026, when Baby Animals rolled into town. Bringing their Keep It Together Tour to The Regent Theatre Richmond, the iconic four-piece proved exactly why they filled the historic theatre and why they remain one of the country’s most enduring live acts.
Sisters Doll Fire Up the Stage
The evening kicked off with Melbourne-born glam-rockers Sisters Doll who served as the evening's special guests. Armed with an excess of big hair, attitude, massive guitar hooks, and a relentless theatrical energy, the trio won over the Richmond crowd. They successfully primed the historic venue for the main act.
Suze DeMarchi Commands the Room
From the moment Suze DeMarchi walked onto the stage, it was clear she hadn't lost her magnetic swagger and down to earth confidence that audiences loved, more than three decades ago. Along with longtime guitarist Dave Leslie, bassist Dario Bortolin, and drummer Ricki Rae, DeMarchi commanded the room and had everyone’s attention.
Opening with a range of classic tracks, the band's great sounds bounced beautifully off the walls of the Art Deco theatre. DeMarchi’s vocals were and still are a force ranging from a raspy, growl to a sky-tearing belt that filled the historic room. The sound production did not disappoint.
While the setlist gave fans plenty, including towering renditions of 90s staples like "Early Warning", "One Word", and "Rush You" the highlight of the night was the band's new material.
Introducing tracks like "Fragile" from their forthcoming album, Baby Animals proved they are far from just a nostalgia act. The new songs were memorable, well structured and well delivered, and, like their classic catalog, boasted the same gritty, no-nonsense hooks and heavy rhythmic drive. Dave Leslie's guitar solos were tightly executed, trading fiery licks with DeMarchi's rhythm playing and keeping the crowd engaged from start to finish.
The Verdict
Having world-class rock royalty deliver a stadium-level performance in an intimate local theatre is a rare treat. If Saturday night was anything to go by, the Baby Animals are not just "keeping it together" they are tearing it up.
How fortunate are we, to have The Regent Theatre providing world class entertainment to us here in the Hawkesbury.
We must mention their helpful crew of fabulous staff who make the show work!
