Boxing returns to Richmond Race Club this Saturday, with local fighters, professional contests and emerging talent set to compete in a major BoxFitt Promotions fight night.
Richmond Race Club will swap greyhound racing for boxing on Saturday, August 8, when fighters from across Sydney and beyond enter the ring for the latest BoxFitt Fight Night.
Doors at the Londonderry Road venue will open at 3pm, with the first bout scheduled for 4pm and the program expected to continue into the evening.
The event is being promoted as a combination of professional boxing, amateur contests, title fights and appearances by emerging fighters looking to build their reputations in the sport.
BoxFitt Promotions says the event will provide spectators with a full afternoon and evening of competitive boxing at one of the Hawkesbury’s best-known sporting venues.
Promotional material describes the card as a “stacked night of professional boxing action”, although a complete final fight card listing every opponent, weight division and number of rounds had not been publicly released at the time of publication.
Individual promotional posts have identified a number of fighters expected to appear, but boxing cards can change at short notice because of injuries, medical requirements, weight issues or opponent withdrawals.
Spectators should therefore check the organiser’s official pages for the final card and any late changes before attending.
Local venue becomes boxing arena
Richmond Race Club, at 312 Londonderry Road, Londonderry, regularly hosts greyhound racing but has also become a venue for boxing and other community events.
The club provides indoor viewing and hospitality areas, a licensed bar, food facilities and on-site parking.
BoxFitt has staged previous boxing events at the venue, including a fight night in March this year. Saturday’s promotion represents the organisation’s return to Richmond for another large program of bouts.
The use of Richmond Race Club allows the promotion to accommodate both general-admission spectators and VIP guests close to the ring.
Tickets available
General-admission tickets are advertised at $70, while VIP admission is advertised at $250.
Promotional material lists the event as suitable for all ages, although children should attend with a responsible adult.
The Eventbrite listing states that doors open at 3pm, the first fight begins at 4pm and the event is expected to finish at about 11.30pm.
