Free Mental health support walk-in at Richmond

Hawkesbury Medicare Mental Health Centre

Sometimes the hardest part of getting help is making the first phone call.

The Hawkesbury Medicare Mental Health Centre is reminding residents that they don't need a referral, an appointment or even a crisis to seek support – they can simply walk through the door and have a conversation.

Located at 1–2 Musson Lane, Richmond, the centre provides free mental health support for people aged 18 years and over in a safe, welcoming and confidential environment.

Whether someone is feeling overwhelmed, anxious, isolated, stressed, grieving or simply not themselves, trained mental health professionals are available to listen, provide support and help people find the services that best meet their needs.

One of the centre's most important messages is that people don't have to wait until they reach a crisis point before seeking help.

Sometimes having a chat with someone who understands can make all the difference.

From 1 July, the centre has new opening hours:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 1pm – 5pm
  • Thursday and Saturday: 1pm – 7pm

The centre is closed on Mondays and Sundays, with public holiday hours subject to change.

While people can call 1800 595 212 for information or support, staff encourage anyone who is struggling to simply walk in.

There is no need for a GP referral, Mental Health Care Plan or prior appointment to access the service.

The Hawkesbury Medicare Mental Health Centre is part of a national network established to make mental health support easier to access, particularly for people who may not know where to turn or who feel reluctant to seek help through traditional pathways.

With mental health challenges affecting people of all ages and backgrounds, the message is simple: if you're not feeling okay, you don't have to face it alone. Sometimes the first step is simply walking through the door and having a chat.
