How “Nature Heals” Celebrates Healing Through Country, Coast, Community

Table of Contents

In a world that moves fast and city-scapes dominate, a quiet but powerful movement is growing one rooted in soil, green shoots and the quiet whisper of leaves. The book Nature Heals offers a heartfelt invitation to reconnect with nature, and reminds us that healing doesn’t always come from pills or procedures, but often from the land beneath our feet.

Co-written by three authors Virginia Field, Karen Gray and local Kerryn Coombs-Valeontis the book weaves together a rich tapestry of real-life stories and therapeutic practices from across Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Kerryn’s background as a teacher, eco-therapist and practitioner of nature as co-therapist adds a deeply human, hands-on perspective to the work. She draws on years of experience in mental health, community gardens, youth-work, aged care and ecotherapy blending education, compassion and the healing power of land, plants and community into a compelling argument for nature-based therapy.

For those in the Hawkesbury region a place where we know the value of open paddocks, community gardens and local produce Nature Heals strikes a chord. It speaks to our roots: the healing power of land, water, soil and community. Whether it’s horticultural therapy, animal-assisted rehab, or simply the quiet act of planting a seed, “Nature Heals” shows that reconnecting with nature can bring hope, calm, purpose and belonging.

Currently the original hardcopy print run is nearly sold out. Post-age in Australia is just $10, so if you’re keen to hold a copy in your hands and perhaps dig up a little peace from the earth now is the time to act
