Australians are being urged to go on the hunt for hidden public toilets as the Great Dunny Hunt returns this year. The initiative, led by Continence Health Australia, aims to uncover unlisted toilets and add them to the National Public Toilet Map.

The hunt runs from Monday 23 March to Monday 15 June, coinciding with the start of World Continence Week 2026. While the map already lists more than 25,000 toilets, many facilities remain “hidden” in plain sight — at parks, libraries, shopping centres, and other public spaces.

Continence Health Australia Chief Executive Jim Cooper said the map is a vital resource for people managing continence issues, families with young children, and travellers unfamiliar with local areas.

“Having an updated and comprehensive map makes public spaces more accessible and helps thousands of Australians plan their day or travel with confidence,” Mr Cooper said.

Australians are encouraged to share information on toilets with features such as adult and baby change facilities, showers, sharps disposal, drinking water, and access for people with mobility issues. Submissions can be made through the National Public Toilet Map website or app, with entrants eligible to win a $1,000 voucher from Discovery Holiday Parks.

Participants can also post photos of their finds on social media using the hashtags #greatdunnyhunt and #hidinginplainsight to raise awareness of the project.

The National Public Toilet Map is especially important for Australians living with incontinence, with a recent survey revealing that almost half of respondents feel uncomfortable leaving home without knowing where toilets are located.
