Night Works Begin for Pitt Town Bypass Project

Motorists travelling through Pitt Town are being advised to prepare for temporary traffic changes as work ramps up on the long-awaited Pitt Town bypass project.

Roads affected include Bathurst Street, Lagoon Road, Pitt Town Road, Cattai Road, Buckingham Street, Glebe Road and Old Pitt Town Road, with works scheduled from Monday 30 March to Friday 10 April 2026, weather permitting.

What Residents Need to Know

Work will take place overnight between 6pm and 7am, a timeframe designed to minimise disruption during peak daytime traffic while keeping the project moving forward efficiently.

During these hours, motorists can expect:

  • Lane closures across key local roads
  • A reduced speed limit of 40km/h
  • Traffic controllers and signage guiding vehicles safely through work zones

Drivers are urged to remain alert, follow directions, and allow extra travel time where possible.

Supporting a Growing Region

The Pitt Town bypass is a significant infrastructure investment for the Hawkesbury, aimed at improving traffic flow, reducing congestion through the township, and supporting the region’s growing population and local economy.

While temporary disruptions are unavoidable, the project represents a forward step in strengthening transport connections across the district, something local businesses and residents have long advocated for.
