Richmond Park will once again host a night under the stars on Saturday, August 2, as the Richmond Lions Club brings back its annual Sleepout in support of mental health, homelessness, and suicide prevention.
Now in its second year, the Richmond Lions Sleepout is fast becoming a highlight community event, drawing families, businesses and locals together for a cause that hits close to home. From 6:00pm, participants will roll out their swags or tents and settle in for a night of connection, reflection and solidarity.
The event raises funds for the Hope4U Foundation, a Hawkesbury-based organisation providing suicide prevention, grief counselling and mental health support services across the region.
Warren Doyle, who has been a key player in launching the initiative, said the Sleepout was born from a pressing need to confront uncomfortable realities.
“Too many people are suffering in silence,” Doyle said. “This is about starting honest conversations, breaking stigma and reminding people they’re not alone. The response from the community has been incredible so far.”
Fellow organiser Scott Hinks said this year’s event will include guest speakers, light entertainment and powerful storytelling from those with lived experience.
“It’s more than just sleeping rough for one night - it’s about walking alongside people who face this every day.” Hinks said.
Whether you’re joining the Sleepout, making a donation or simply turning up to show your support, all are welcome.
