Windsor South teacher refused bail as parent expresses shock

A parent whose children attend Windsor South Public School has described their shock after reports that teacher Peter Richard McCredie was refused bail on child abuse material and advocating violence charges.

McCredie, 38, remains in custody following a bail hearing at Downing Centre Local Court, according to reporting by The Daily Telegraph.

The parent, who is not being named to protect their children’s privacy, said the allegations were difficult to reconcile with the teacher their family knew.

“This teacher was teaching my sons and all kids we know have said he was excellent and kind and yet we have this vomit inducing update,” the parent said.
“I just cannot believe what I’m reading and goes to show how much work we need to do to protect our kids.”

The newspaper reported that McCredie faces four counts of transmitting child abuse material to himself, one count of using a carriage service to make child abuse material available, and three counts of advocating violence against groups.

The court reportedly refused bail because of concerns about risks to individuals or the community. The matter was adjourned to December 9, 2026, for brief status.

Importantly, The Daily Telegraph reported that the court was told there was no suggestion McCredie had carried out the acts depicted in the material allegedly found on his phone. The reporting does not establish that any Windsor South student was a victim.

The NSW Department of Education told the newspaper McCredie was “not able to work in a NSW public school”.

The department said student safety and wellbeing were its priority and that it was working closely with the police.

The charges remain allegations. A refusal of bail is not a finding of guilt, and the allegations will be determined through the court process.
