Young artists can paint, make pottery, create jewellery and experiment with manga drawing during the Macquarie Towns Arts Society’s spring school-holiday program.
The society, known locally as MTAS, will present two weeks of hands-on workshops at Richmond Art Supplies from Monday, September 28, to Friday, October 9.
Designed for children aged from five to 15, the program offers separate morning and afternoon sessions covering painting, drawing and a range of craft activities.
Morning workshops will run from 10am to noon, while afternoon sessions will be held from 1pm to 3pm.
Each workshop costs $15 per child, with art materials and equipment supplied. Children attending the tie-dye session will need to bring their own T-shirt.
MTAS says the program is intended for children who already enjoy making art, as well as those who simply want to experiment with something new during the holidays.
“Our MTAS Kids School Holiday Workshops are back and packed with colour, creativity and hands-on fun,” the society said.
“From painting to crafting unique creations, we have a brilliant line-up of workshops designed to let your child’s imagination shine.”
First week
The program begins on Monday, September 28, with children making their own dragons during the morning session and decorating treasure boxes in the afternoon.
On Tuesday, September 29, children can paint rocks in the morning or make flower fairies in the afternoon.
Wednesday, September 30, will feature landscape painting followed by a slime-making workshop.
Young illustrators can learn to draw manga cartoons on Thursday, October 1, while the afternoon group will create ornaments for fairy gardens.
The first week concludes on Friday, October 2, with creative journal-making in the morning and tie-dying in the afternoon. Children taking part in the tie-dye session must bring a T-shirt to decorate.
No workshops will be held on the Labour Day public holiday on Monday, October 5.
Second week
Activities resume on Tuesday, October 6, with children making miniature food from polymer clay during the morning session. The afternoon workshop will introduce participants to acrylic pouring.
Wednesday, October 7, will offer watercolour painting in the morning and pottery-making in the afternoon.
Polymer-clay sea creatures will be created on Thursday morning, followed by scratch-art drawing during the afternoon.
The program concludes on Friday, October 9, with jewellery-making from 10am and the creation of a polymer-clay frog pond from 1pm.
