Art, craft and a little springtime inspiration will fill Richmond School of Arts this October when the Macquarie Towns Arts Society presents its annual A Spring Affair Art & Craft Exhibition.
Running from Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25, the exhibition will bring together more than 130 artworks, showcasing the creativity of local artists and craftspeople across a diverse range of styles and mediums.
For visitors, it is an opportunity to spend some time surrounded by art while discovering the considerable creative talent within the local community.
Paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolour will feature alongside drawings in ink, charcoal and pencil, while a variety of handmade works will add another dimension to the exhibition.
Visitors can browse jewellery, resin works, pottery, handmade cards and other crafts, with each offering the chance to find something that is both beautiful and made with care.
And with Christmas now just around the corner, the exhibition could also provide inspiration for those looking to move away from mass-produced presents.
A locally created artwork, handmade piece of jewellery or carefully crafted pottery can make a very different kind of gift – something with a story behind it and a connection to the community.
There will also be plenty for younger visitors to discover, with a dedicated children's art section included in the exhibition alongside six other sections.
One of the highlights of this year's event will be the Best in Show Award, sponsored by the Combined Arts Societies of Sydney.
The prestigious award comes with a $500 prize and will recognise an outstanding work entered in the exhibition.
The winners will be announced at the exhibition's awards presentation at 2pm on Saturday, October 24.
Visitors attending the presentation will also be able to enjoy a high tea as they take in the artworks and the atmosphere of the exhibition.
For the Macquarie Towns Arts Society, A Spring Affair is more than an opportunity to display artwork. It provides a meeting point for artists, craftspeople and the wider community, and a chance to celebrate the creative work being produced locally.
For those who don't consider themselves art experts, the exhibition is equally an invitation to simply come along, browse and enjoy.
You might discover an artist whose work catches your eye, find a handmade Christmas gift, uncover a new creative interest – or perhaps leave with a piece that makes you smile every time you look at it.
With more than 130 artworks and a wide variety of handmade creations on display, there should be something to appeal to every taste.
A Spring Affair 2026 will be held at Richmond School of Arts from Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25.
