Windsor’s historic Howe House will open its doors to costumed children and curious ghost-story enthusiasts this Halloween, with two events offering different ways to explore the past.

Hawkesbury Regional Museum will host family activities and an after-dark tour on Saturday, October 31, bringing a spooky atmosphere to the 19th-century house.

For younger visitors, Spooky Family Fun at Howe House promises a not-too-scary adventure through rooms filled with surprises.

Children can discover what life was like in the 1800s and collect Halloween treats as they explore. Young visitors and their grown-ups are encouraged to dress for the occasion, whether as ghosts, goblins, superheroes or something entirely their own.

The activity is suitable for children aged four to 12, with 30-minute sessions running between 4pm and 7pm. Tickets cost $10 per child, and bookings are essential.

Later that evening, the mood will shift for Howe House After Dark, a guided tour for adults and teenagers aged 15 and over.

From 8pm to 9pm, museum staff will lead visitors through lantern-lit rooms, sharing stories of Windsor’s past and accounts of unusual experiences reported at the house.

According to the museum, staff and visitors have described hearing footsteps and glimpsing figures out of the corners of their eyes—stories that may give familiar rooms a different feeling after sunset.

Tickets for the evening tour cost $5 per person, with bookings essential.

Both events take place at Hawkesbury Regional Museum, 8 Baker Street, Windsor, with entry to Howe House via Thompson Square.
