Night Works to Bring Temporary Traffic Changes Across Pitt Town Area

Pitt Town Bypass night road works

Motorists travelling through Pitt Town and surrounding roads are being advised to plan ahead, with a series of temporary traffic changes set to take place this month as work continues on the Pitt Town Bypass project.

The works will affect several key local roads, including:

  • Bathurst Street
  • Lagoon Road
  • Pitt Town Road
  • Glebe Road
  • Wellesley Street
  • Cattai Road
  • Buckingham Road
  • Old Pitt Town Road

The changes will be in place on April 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 28 and 29, weather permitting.

If works are delayed, contingency dates have been scheduled for April 15, 22 and 30.

Night works and changing conditions

To minimise disruption during peak travel times, most work will be carried out overnight from 6pm to 7am, Monday to Friday, with additional works scheduled between 7am and 8pm.

During these periods, drivers can expect:

  • Lane closures
  • Reduced speed limits of 40km/h
  • Traffic control measures and signage in place

Authorities are urging motorists to take extra care when travelling through work zones and to follow the directions of traffic controllers.

Ongoing bypass construction

The traffic changes form part of the broader Pitt Town Bypass project, which aims to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion through the Pitt Town village centre.

While the project is expected to deliver long-term benefits, short-term disruptions are likely as construction progresses.
