Motorists travelling through Vineyard are being warned to expect changed traffic conditions throughout August and September, with temporary lane closures, reduced speed limits, traffic control and a major weekend road closure planned around Bandon Road.
The works will affect Bandon Road, Wallace Road, Dulwich Road, Ashford Road, St James Road, Camberwell Road, Old Hawkesbury Road, Chapman Road, Windsor Road, Riverstone Parade, Hamilton Street and O’Connell Street.
Temporary lane closures and traffic control will be introduced as required to protect road users and workers, while reduced speed limits will apply through work zones.
Standard working hours will be 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, although extended hours will apply this weekend.
There will also be up to 10 nights of work through to 30 September, generally between 8pm and 5am, Sunday to Thursday, on and around the affected roads.
Bandon Road closure
The most significant disruption will occur from 7pm Friday, 21 August, until 5am Monday, 24 August, when Bandon Road will be closed between the rail level crossing near Vineyard Train Station and Wallace Road.
The closure will involve work on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Traffic diversions will be in place throughout the closure.
Motorists should be aware that:
- traffic will still be able to turn right from the rail level crossing into Riverstone Parade, but will not be able to continue straight along Bandon Road;
- there will be no direct access between Riverstone Parade and Bandon Road; and
- motorists will not be able to exit Wallace Road via Bandon Road.
Drivers are being urged to allow extra travel time and follow all traffic control directions.
Expect delays
The changed conditions are likely to affect local residents, commuters and businesses across Vineyard and surrounding areas, particularly during the weekend closure.
Motorists should obey temporary speed limits, follow signage and comply with directions from traffic controllers.
Anyone travelling through the area is encouraged to check conditions before leaving.
For the latest traffic information, motorists can use the Live Traffic NSW app, visit livetraffic.com, or phone 132 701.
The works are expected to continue through to the end of September.
