The Regent Theatre has sold out a Guy Sebastian concert in less than 24 hours, continuing a strong start for the Richmond venue less than a month after its official reopening.
Guy Sebastian will perform at the Windsor Street theatre in December as part of his 100X Around Australia Tour. Ticketholders can expect a broad setlist spanning his career, including fan favourites Who's That Girl, Like It Like That and Standing With You, along with ARIA Song of the Year winner Choir, which has reached four-times platinum. The show will also feature tracks from his latest album 100 Times Around The Sun, including the APRA Award-winning Maybe, Get It Done and The Keys, as well as earlier hits Battle Scars and Before I Go.
The sellout is the latest in a run of strong results for the newly reopened venue. Three of The Regent's first four shows - Ian Moss, Michael Paynter and Ross Noble - also sold out, as did an ABBA tribute performance on Saturday 5 July.
Owner Duncan MacKay said the response from the community had been gratifying. "It's a real thrill to see the community responding so positively to our initial programming line up," he said. "For The Regent Theatre to host and support great Australian artists like Guy Sebastian is a real honour. And we have so many more exciting live show announcements to come."
The Regent was established in 1935 and has served audiences across the Hawkesbury and Greater Western Sydney for 90 years. The venue was famously purchased and restored by television host Mike Walsh in 1976, but fell into disrepair in the years that followed before new owners stepped in to undertake a significant renovation and upgrade of the facility.
Sebastian is also donating $1 plus GST per ticket sold to The Sebastian Foundation, a charity he established with his wife Jules to support adolescent mental health and wellbeing.
