Pot of Gold

Kurrajong District Doings

The rainbow captured by Steve Shep appearing to land on Leaine Clough's property at Kurrajong Heights.

Residents in Kurrajong Heights were treated to a spectacular display of nature recently when a brilliant rainbow appeared to end right on a local property, prompting plenty of smiles and a few jokes about hidden treasure.

Local musician and photographer Steve Shep, well known for sharing stunning sunrise and sunset photographs on the Kurrajong Heights Community Group Facebook page, captured the striking image and shared it with the community on 15 May.

The rainbow appeared to touch down on the property of Kurrajong Heights resident Leaine Clough, sparking plenty of light-hearted comments online.

"Just beautiful," Ms Clough said. "I've got the pot of gold!"

The photograph quickly attracted attention from locals, with many admiring both the beauty of the scene and Shep's talent for capturing the unique landscapes and weather moments that make the Kurrajong district so special.

Kurrajong Heights is renowned for its spectacular views across the Sydney Basin and Blue Mountains, and residents are often treated to breathtaking sunrises, sunsets, cloud formations and rainbows. Thanks to photographers such as Steve Shep, many of these moments are shared with the wider community.

Beyond his photography, Shep is also well known locally as a musician, often performing alongside fellow musician Gordy, with the pair becoming familiar faces at community events and gatherings throughout the district.

While no gold nuggets have yet been reported from Ms Clough's backyard, the image served as a welcome reminder of the natural beauty that surrounds the mountain communities of the Hawkesbury.

Sometimes the real treasure is simply stopping to appreciate the view.
