Richmond Road Upgrades Through Elara Corridor

From Friday, 1 May through to Sunday, 31 May 2026

Motorists travelling along Richmond Road between Elara Boulevard and Clydesdale Farm Road are being advised to prepare for changed traffic conditions throughout May, as essential infrastructure works get underway.

Transport for NSW will carry out a series of upgrades from Friday, 1 May through to Sunday, 31 May 2026, with a mix of day and night works designed to keep the project moving efficiently while maintaining access for the growing north-west corridor.

The works will include utility testing using non-invasive machinery, along with earthworks, drainage improvements and essential service upgrades—critical steps in supporting the area’s rapid growth and ensuring the road network keeps pace.

During construction, drivers will notice a reduced speed limit of 60km/h, with occasional lane closures in place. At times, traffic will operate in both directions on one side of the road, supported by barriers and traffic control measures.

As work progresses, there may also be temporary shifts in traffic alignment, particularly once safety barriers are installed. Night works will bring additional changes, including shoulder closures and a further reduced speed limit of 40km/h to protect workers and motorists.

Traffic controllers will be on site to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through the area, supported by clear signage. Motorists are urged to follow directions and allow extra travel time, particularly during peak construction periods.

Day works will take place between 7am and 6pm on weekdays, and 7am to 2pm on Saturdays, while night works are scheduled from 7pm to 7am, Monday to Friday. No work will occur on public holidays.

For up-to-date information, drivers can check the Live Traffic NSW app, visit official traffic websites, or call 132 701.

While the temporary disruptions may test patience, the upgrades signal continued investment in one of the region’s busiest transport links—supporting safer, more reliable journeys for the Hawkesbury and beyond.
