Safety Boost for Mitchells Road Sackville North

From Monday, 4 May 2026, crews will begin work to reinforce the existing 50km/h speed limit

Residents and motorists travelling through Sackville North will soon notice clearer guidance on one of the area’s key rural routes, with updated speed signage set to be installed along Mitchells Road.

From Monday, 4 May 2026, crews will begin work to reinforce the existing 50km/h speed limit, installing new signage at key locations including the intersection with Sackville Ferry Road and near 133 Mitchells Road. The move is aimed at improving driver awareness and enhancing safety for locals and visitors alike.

The work will be carried out over a single weekday shift sometime between 4 May and 5 June, depending on weather conditions. Crews will be on site between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, with no night or weekend works planned, minimising disruption for residents.

While the upgrade is relatively minor, temporary traffic changes will be in place to ensure the safety of both workers and road users. Motorists can expect lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h through the work zone during installation.

Authorities are encouraging drivers to plan ahead and stay informed by using the Live Traffic NSW app, visiting live traffic websites, or calling 132 701 for the latest updates.

The signage upgrade reflects a broader push to improve road safety across the Hawkesbury, particularly on rural roads where changing conditions and limited visibility can catch drivers off guard.
