Motorists travelling through Dural are being advised to expect changed traffic conditions on Old Northern Road from Sunday 24 May as investigation work begins for planned pedestrian safety upgrades.

Transport for NSW says the work will take place near Derriwong Road and will help support the design of a new pedestrian refuge and improvements to existing bus stops in the area.

The project aims to improve safety for pedestrians crossing the busy roadway, particularly those accessing public transport services.

Work is scheduled to continue until Thursday 18 June, weather permitting, and will involve a combination of day and night shifts.

Day work will occur between Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm.

Night work is scheduled between Sunday to Thursday, 8pm to 5am the following morning.

No work will be carried out on Saturday nights or during the Monday 8 June public holiday.

Drivers are being warned to allow extra travel time, with temporary lane closures and a reduced 40km/h speed limit to be in place while crews are on site.

Traffic control and signage will direct motorists safely through the work zone.

The investigation works form part of ongoing efforts to improve pedestrian access and safety along sections of Old Northern Road, which carries a significant volume of commuter and local traffic each day.

Motorists can stay updated through:

  • the Live Traffic NSW app,
  • the Live Traffic NSW website,
