Hawkesbury residents will have a face-to-face opportunity this weekend to question Transport for NSW representatives about two major road proposals affecting travel through Riverstone and Rouse Hill.
Project teams will attend the Richmond Good Food Market at Richmond Park on Saturday, October 31, from 8am to 1pm.
Residents will be able to examine plans and provide feedback on the Garfield Road Central Stage 1 project and the proposed Windsor Road upgrade at Rouse Hill. Both projects currently have their concept designs and Reviews of Environmental Factors on public exhibition.
Garfield Road Central
Garfield Road Central Stage 1 proposes realigning Railway Terrace so that it connects directly with Riverstone Parade and altering the intersection of Garfield Road, Riverstone Parade and Railway Terrace.
The proposal includes:
- two lanes in each direction on Garfield Road near the intersection;
- dedicated turning and through lanes on Railway Terrace;
- double right-turn lanes from Riverstone Parade;
- signalised pedestrian crossings;
- left-in and left-out access at West Parade and Carlton Street;
- removal of right turns from Garfield Road into Railway Terrace and Riverstone Parade; and
- removal of some parking along Garfield Road between Carlton and Pitt streets.
Transport for NSW says the changes are intended to improve traffic flow and safety near the Riverstone railway crossing and accommodate continued population growth.
Feedback on Garfield Road Central Stage 1 closes at 11.59pm on Sunday, November 15.
Windsor Road, Rouse Hill
The Australian and NSW governments have committed $400 million to upgrading Windsor Road between Mile End Road and Schofields Road, together with Commercial Road between Windsor Road and Caddies Boulevard.
The proposal would widen sections of Windsor Road to three general traffic lanes in each direction and provide dedicated bus lanes, upgraded intersections and new walking and cycling connections.
It also proposes changes to Commercial Road to provide access to the new Rouse Hill Hospital. These include new and upgraded traffic lights, bus-priority lanes and changes to vehicle access at McCombe Avenue and The Fiddler.
Some existing bus stops would be removed or relocated as part of plans intended to improve travel times and service reliability.
Submissions on the Windsor Road proposal close at 5pm on Monday, November 9.
Transport for NSW is seeking comments about congestion, intersection performance, effects on homes and businesses, public transport, pedestrian and cycling connections and other local concerns.
The information session will be held at the Richmond Good Food Market in Richmond Park, at the corner of March and Windsor streets, on Saturday, October 31, from 8am to 1pm.
Residents can also explore the proposals through Transport for NSW’s interactive North West Roadworks map.
Feedback can be submitted through the Garfield Road Central consultation and Windsor Road upgrade consultation pages.
